Goom Internet Radio Launched

By Richard Menta 7/29/09

After raising a solid a $16 million in a first round financing Jersey City based Goom radio has officially launched its new service, throwing it's hat into the crowded Net radio ring. Today the company went Alpha hoping to differentiate itself from the likes of Pandora, Last.fm, SHOUTcast, and SiriusXM who successfully launched their iPhone app last month.

One of the ways Goom looks to separate it's service from the crowd is through a proprietary streaming technology called Gsound, which they claim delivers a high-def music listening experience. Otherwise, details on Goom are sparse. We'll follow up and get more info on the company, which was sired by former Clear Channel exec Rob Williams who serves as CEO and dMarc Broadcasting founder Drew Hilles.
