The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple will replace defective screens that owners complain both break and scratch too easily on the iPod nano.
Apple's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing, Philip Schiller, told the Journal that a vendor quality problem was the cause of the defects. Schiller stated that these defects only affected less than 1% of nanos and would be covered under the Apple warranty.
iPod nano sales have been quite brisk since the unit's introduction, but the problems threatened to derail sales as Apple enters the Christmas season. Apple's fast response to consumer complaints should alleviate the concerns of xmas shoppers.
The 4GB iPod Nano is available on Amazon
