According to George Lovato, Jr., president and chief executive of Americana Publishing, "There are thousands upon thousands of popular songs from all periods of American music that are currently unavailable. We're in the process of securing rights to master recordings and placing the music on our web site for customer downloading in either RealAudio or MP3 formats. And so for the first time in many years, people will gain access to these rare and wonderful recordings." Launch date for is planned for April 1, 2000.

Americana will also have the facility to create Compact Discs of any selection of songs chosen by customers, which will be shipped to them. In another area of the web site, Lovato said, independent producers and artists can place their music, which can then be downloaded to customers, or made into customized CDs. This offers the opportunity for musicians to reach audiences directly.
