By Richard Menta 1/15/08

Apple has sold 4 million iPhones to date, Steve Jobs told the Keynote audience at MacWorld today. Averaging about 20,000 iPhones a day since its introduction the iPhone will also see the release of an SDK for it.

"iPhone in its first 90 days of shipping garnered almost 20 percent marketshare of smartphone market" said Jobs. The iPhone will also get several updates inclusing a new user interface for maps with improved search and direction capabilities. This includes the use of a new joint venture between Skyhook wireless and Google to utilize existing cell towers to facilitate location via triangulation. No GPS is used. This is all available as a free update to existing iPhone users. No iPhone 3G was announced
