Creative announced that it is shipping the first 16GB flash DAP. An update to the Zen V Plus player line, the new unit can be identied from the other versions by the use of white trim accents. 8GB and 4GB units will use the blue accent like the picture to the right, and the 2GB unit utilizes green. Otherwise, the features between all flavors of the Zen V Plus are identical including a built-in FM tuner and voice recorder.
Prototypes of 16GB units were spotted at various electronics shows lately, but the Zen V Plus is the first to The new 16GB player will retail for $249 US. The 8GB unit retails for $169, the 4GB for $109 and the 2GB for $89, just $10 more than the ultra-spartan 1GB iPod shuffle. We expect Apple to announce the first 16GB flash iPod this fall, most likely for the nano line, and to see the iPod shuffle get a bump to 2GB.
