By Richard Menta 2/18/06 It was an interesting looking device by Sony, one that took advantage of the fact that digital audio players don't take those standardized disks or tapes that limit size and shape. Unfortunately, the Sony Bean wasn't one of that company's better efforts according to the likes of engadget who said "the product had its own share of failings, including Sony's SonicStage software, clunky controls, and the lack of PlaysForSure support". Now Sony has announced that is is pulling the plug on one of the company's latest iPod Killers, a mere 6 months after introducing it. Figuring the unique looks of this portable did not draw in the customers, Sony will most likely direct its efforts on newer designs to compete in the MP3 player market. Of course, it may not have been the looks at all as such a thing is subjective. Then again, the slim profile of the iPod nano may be the look consumers are searching for right now. |
